A lot of incidents where girls of all age are physically,
psychologically and sexually abused disturbed me for some days and I came with
an idea to point out top 5 movies based on women violence with a motto that
these movies will change the mentality of some corrupted people and will give
the victims a new hope to live again.
Here is my top 5 list.
The Purple Color follows the life of
14 years old Celie giving birth to her second child fathered by her own father
whom later we find out is her step-father.
Her step-father takes her second child away from her and threatens her
never to tell anyone about it. As the time passes a local farmer, Mister comes
by to marry Celie’s younger sister, Nettie. Her father refuses to give Nettie
to the Mister and gives the man Celie instead. Mister verbally, physically and
sexually abuses Celie and when her sister Nittie comes to meet her Mister even
tries to have sex with her. Nittie fights with Mister which makes him angry.
Nettie leaves the house promising her sister Celie that she will write letter
unless death keeps her away from it. But Celie never receives a letter as
Mister hides them all.
As the time passes by Mister’s lover Shung
Avery, comes to visit her boyfriend and befriends with Celie whom she helps
understand she is a lot more than Mister’s servant. Later Celie leaves Mister threatening
everything he touches will fall apart until he does right by her. Mister finds
compassion and goes to the INS to help Nittie prove that she is a US citizen.
Celie is later reunited with her sister Nittie and her two children who had
been given to the missionary and his wife.
This extra ordinary film ends with Celie
uniting with her kids and her sister.
The film follows the story of four woman –
Margaret who is found guilty of being raped by her cousin, Rose an unmarried
mother, Bernadette a very beautiful and flirtatious girl, Crispina a mentally
handicapped single mother who are all forced by their respective familes to go
to the Magdalene Asylum.
This film details the disastrous lives of
the four girls where each woman suffers extremely cruelty and violence.
The film gives the brief description of the
lives of the four of the inmates after the girls the asylum by the late 1960s.
This fictional biographical film is inspired by the interviews of real women.
The real women didn’t know each other but in the movie they do. The last
Magdalene Assylum was reported to be closed in 1996.
